INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SOCIAL STUDIES AND ENGINEERING STUDENTS IN PERSONALITY TRAIT EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

This article reports results of a study on differences in emotional intelligence as a personality trait in social and technical students. A sample of 170 respondents from different universities were surveyed. Of these, 78 (47%) were men and 95 (53%) were women. Significant differences were found between social science and technical students based on the research conducted. Specifically, social science students are rated as more emotionally competent, sociable, efficient, and sensitive than those studying technical majors. Some gender differences in self-perceived emotional characteristics were also outlined.
